Want to make your windows appear larger?

Instead of placing the drapery rod just above the window, place it at your ceiling. If you have crown molding, place the bar just under the molding. Hang your draperies.

Then by using tie backs, pull the drapes back on each side of the window, leaving the top part of the drapes treatment closed over the wall above the window.

This trick also makes the room look more elegant, by accentuating the height of the walls, especially if you're hanging sheers behind the heavier drapes. Leave the sheers closed from floor to ceiling for a beautiful look.

Yes, the drapes will cost more because they will need to be longer. But it's well worth it for the final result.
